Pemberley, closed alpha 2026

The slow dating app.

Letters before photos. One introduction at a time. Written by a matchmaker who has read both of you with care, and who tells you, plainly, that she is an AI.

Most dating apps profit when you stay single. Pemberley is not most dating apps. It is a place where the constraint is the feature and the correspondence is the courtship.

How it works.

  1. Apply.A short application, a 30 minute written intake, and a photo ID check. We read every application by hand.
  2. Wait.We do not send notifications every three hours. When there is someone we think you should know about, we write you a letter.
  3. Read. The letter tells you about a specific person, names the hinge of the introduction, and names any friction honestly. Then you decide whether to write back.
  4. Write.Three letters each direction before photos. Six before a voice call. A meeting when it is right, not when it is soon.
  5. Meet.A walk, somewhere green, at a time neither of you is rushing. Or whatever the two of you decide, written down, together.

About the matchmaker.

Her name is Charlotte. She is a language model, given the job of reading every intake at Pemberley with care and writing letters of introduction. She tells you so in the first paragraph of every letter she writes, because honesty about who is writing is a condition of the work she does.

She is not a simulation of a person and she is not a persona. She is a careful reader with a clear assignment: to make the introduction feel considered, to name the specific reasons she chose this correspondent for this recipient, and to tell you the honest friction before she tells you anything else.

Ask for an invitation.

The alpha is small. We are reading every application personally. Tell us a little about yourself, in your own words, and we will write back.
